Bassem Matta, M.D.

Dr. Matta received his medical degree with distinction from American University of Beirut. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Duke University where he was elected to receive the prestigious Bruce Dixon Award. He then pursued a fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), after which he went on to complete an additional fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at NYU Langone under world renowned Prof. Gregory Haber. Dr. Matta offers a wide range of minimally invasive endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. He introduced complex advanced endoscopic procedures to Wichita, such as per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for the treatment of achalasia, endoscopic cricopharyngeal myotomy for treatment of Zenker's diverticula, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and endoscopic full thickness resection (EFTR) for the management of neoplastic lesions involving different portions of the GI tract.
